Caused by: KeyNotFoundError: Cannot find key "documents_kanban" in the "views" registry
    Error: Cannot find key "documents_kanban" in the "views" registry

When I install my documentation module, I get this error. I deployed Odoo locally and added the documentation module afterward.

This error usually occurs when the required view (documents_kanban) is not available in the system.

Please check the following:

  • Ensure that the Documents module is installed, as this view is part of it
  • Verify that your module has the correct dependency defined in the __manifest__.py (e.g., 'documents')
  • If already installed, try upgrading the Documents module and then reinstalling your custom module

This should resolve the missing view issue.

The error occurs because your module is referencing the `documents_kanban` view before the Documents application has been loaded.

`documents_kanban` is registered by Odoo's Documents module, so your custom module must depend on it. Please add the Documents module to the `depends` section of your `__manifest__.py` file:


'depends': [
    'documents',
]


If you are using Odoo Enterprise, also include:


'depends': [
    'documents',
    'documents_enterprise',
]


Then upgrade the Documents module first, followed by your custom module:


./odoo-bin -d your_database -u documents
./odoo-bin -d your_database -u your_module


Also make sure the Documents app is installed from Apps before installing your module.

After the Documents module is loaded, the `documents_kanban` view will be registered correctly and the error should disappear.
