Odoo Enterprise V10

In an effort to fully resolve some lingering questions raised in my Oct. 26 "Letter of Credit & Bank Reconciliation" question, I decided to experiment with the Odoo Runbot (http://runbot.odoo.com/runbot/repo/git-github-com-odoo-enterprise-7?search=); my first time there and well worth learning about.

In my experiment I went to the Accounting module's Chart of Accounts and created two bank accounts and one non-current liability account.  Next, I went to the Adviser|Journal Entries to do my little experiment and clicked on the 'Add an item' under the Account column heading.  I clicked the dropdown on the account field and expected to be able to find the new chart of account items that I'd just added (the two bank accounts and the  non-current liability account).  Instead, it asked me if I wanted to created it.  I tried searching for them but they were nowhere to be found.

I suspect that I'm approaching this wrong.  Is there some order of precedence that I should be following?  Any guidance that can be offered would be appreciated.
