Are OpenERP developers planning to implement real-time protocols like socket.io or similar techniques to improve the messaging system? Seems like not using these modern techniques the messaging system does not make much sense in the long run...

Hi,
Anybox implements a module web_socketio for real time implementation for socket.io with gevent_socketio. This module is use on the module web_im. You can found the modules on bitbucket
Chat Module.
Try chat module available with trunk.
Where its realtime chat feature available good one.
But remember openerp is always as is buggy.
thanks,
I think this is a misunderstanding - the whole messaging architecture should be built on a real-time platform like socket.io or similar, then there is no need for an explicit chat feature. Ajax Updates in the web client will be better usable in all existing messaging features than an additional chat feature that generates another different-place-where-communication-gets-lost.
