The most credible thing I have found so far is a Zapier integration of Odoo with Covve (I can't post links atm because not enough karma on this forum yet, but you can easily find it)
But honestly, I'm flabbergasted nobody has made any paid for extension for this.
Totally, especially since odoo appears to have a document reading module tucked away in its codebase. I intend to work on this.
Anyone found any solution on this? Tried Zapier with Covve and it works fine but would be much better if we could do it without 3rd party service.
I see that there is one app using Document Intelligence from Azure Portal, but that one also uses 3rd party solution https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/17.0/business_card_reader/
Microsoft and Google both have "Lens" which is on all Android phones. That might work since it can be used to add information to the "Contacts" App in the phone, which can then export to CSV for import into Odoo.

I've tried several business card scanners and currently the best free option i've found is Haystack.
It does a great job of digitising the card via OCR, letting you confirm the fields accuracy also.
You can scan cards then sync to phone contacts or save to a specific email account (Office 365 Outlook Contacts).
Then you could use an addon to Outlook that automatically syncs contacts to Odoo, which we provide. With this solution, there would be no changes needed to Odoo itself.
