Enable rentals to be easily extended

In standard Odoo it is not possible to simply extend the rental period on an existing rental line if the invoice has already been generated for that rental. Rather this must be accomplished several steps which do not properly reflect what has happened:

  1. Ensure the invoice has been generated for the initial rental period
  2. Return the rental item
  3. Re-rent the original item for the new rental period (which generally simply follows the previous period)
  4. Select the original serial number
  5. "Pickup" the rental item

WilldooIT's rental extension module allows you to do this in ONE convenient step:

- Simply click on a new icon () displayed next to the rental product and select the extension date - Done!

Details:

Below is a rental order for the the 6th of January to the 11th of January that needs to be extended by one week:

To extend it by an additional week, click on the button then select the "Extend Rental" button to the right of the product :

Now, simply select the new rental period using the familiar Odoo rental pop-up:

The new rental is created on a new order line and is recorded in the chatter:

Noteworthy points:

  1. Extension rental periods can created as necessary, i.e. multiple rental extensions
  2. Individual invoices (or invoice lines) are created for each rental extension

This opens up the rental "from-to" dates dialogue. The "from date" is automatically completed and equals the "to-date" of the existing rental. Only the "to-date" of the new rental needs to be completed. Done!

Noteworthy points:

All rental extension details are recorded on the chatter Extension rental periods can created as necessary, i.e. multiple rental extensions Individual invoices (or invoice lines) are created for each rental extension

Hello, you have this module for Enterprise v17?

Hi Oscar,

Due to the change in architecture in rentals, upgrading to v17 is not as trivial as we would like, and without commitments, we are unlikely to be upgrading this.

Regards,

Richard
