Whats the difference between upward traceability and downward traceability in serial numbers? both buttons in serial number gives the same.

Hello Omal,

Upward Traceability :

  • It runs from the raw materials received from the supplier and follows the chain to the finished products delivered to customers.
  • Note that the name is confusing - this would often be considered a downsteam direction. Think of it as Where Used.

Downward Traceability :

  • It follows the product in the other direction, from customer to the different suppliers of raw material.

  • Note that the name is confusing - this would often be considered an upstream direction. Think of it as Where Supplied.

This is what i got from the https://doc.openerp.com/v6.0/book/5/5_14_Stock/5_14_Stock_traceability/. But i was not able to get this. both upward and downward are showing the same.
