I think there is no need for customization ...
Under Setting->Technical->Database Structure->Decimal Accuracy. Select Product UoS, and then set the Digits to 0 instead of 3.
Hope this could help ...
Also if you don't wanna see the decimals you could set the widget integer to the fields using the developer mode
For mi work this way, but I´m working on Odoo 8:
- Technical Settings -> Database Structure -> Decimal Accuracy
- Edit the "Product Unit of Measure"
- Change "Digits" to your desired number
- Save
- Refresh the page for changes take effect
Wouldn't that break any BoM that uses a fractional amount of a component? If I sell whole numbers of finished goods, but the BoM to make one uses .05 of something?

It probably does, this config applies to the whole system, meaning that affects all units of the products in any area of Odoo.
