I've followed other guides I've found on here and elsewhere online, but I can't seem to find a reference in base.xml for "DatabaseManagement" to comment out.
Is there a newer way of doing this? Somewhere else I should look?

The best way is by restricting access to /web/database/manager in your proxy server configuration.
I actually found a workaround way to hide the link, but not disable the functionality. I turned on the Website app, and now going to the link we plan to give out publicly only shows username and password.
I am looking also to kill that link. I have added a password to the database login but why is getting to the database manager so obvious while getting to the Odoo settings so hidden??!!
Can you give more details on how turning on the website app hides the manage databases link?
