how do I De-duplicate Mailing List Subscriber

Export the list of contacts, do deduplicate it using for example Excel sorting and grouping features and re-import them.
Check the following module in order to prevent from entering duplicates again: https://apps.openerp.com/apps/modules/8.0/mass_mailing_unique/ [1]      None [2]

Odoo Online users are not able to install 3rd party app as suggested here.
Is there another workaround for this, like a scheduled action or similar, for removing or stopping duplicates?
