Hello Odoo Community,

I'm just new user with Odoo and I am facing an issue with the Sales application regarding products managed by lot/serial numbers.

I cancelled a Sales Order, but the related serial numbers are still reserved. The Sales Order itself is cancelled, yet the stock picking remains in status “Done”, and I cannot cancel or unreserve it.

Because of this, the serial numbers are not being released back into inventory, which prevents me from reusing them in a new order.

👉 My question: How can I correctly reintegrate these serial numbers into the inventory so that I can restart the sales process?

You will have to perform a Return action from the picking in Done state as Odoo will not auto-cancel any performed moves.


Simply put, returning a stock move will inverse the order of the previous move (i.e. returning a stock move from WH/Stock to WH/Output will result in a new stock move from WH/Output to WH/Stock)*. This way you can actually keep track of where your goods are at any given time, no matter what Sales has been discussing with the Customer.

*) You could change this behavior in the Routes configuration.
