OCA (the community group behind Odoo) has made an open sourced and free app to preview documents. You can find it here: https://www.odoo.com/apps/modules/8.0/attachment_preview/
This app is free (unlike the link from Acespritech) and has more options.

There is also https://github.com/buke/odoo-web-pdf-preview-print which opens a new browser tab to preview PDFs.

Hi, i thing that you are looking for a browser configuration.
On firefox: preferences#general on Application tab look for pdf a select: 'preview in firefox'
