Hi, Is it possible to call an external API as part of Ecom application suite, and do some validation before the order is placed?

If i use Odoo online version or enterprise version, will it allow to modify the code to call an extra API during the checkout process?

Yes. You can do it in the python code methods in the server like _cart_update
