I also had this problem. After switching to Google Chrome I was able to perform the backup successfully.
Firefox appeared to allow a successful backup as well.
but i not successfull at all for browser and also client
Safari solved the problem when i could not with chrome and firefox
Your database user might not have the rights to make a backup of the database. Check the role and rights from postgresql.

can you backup your database from the database with pg_dump?
ya i had the same problem, and i tested all the browser like IE, Google Chrome and Firefox also same. it also saw the error message ('Access Denied')
I had the same problem using IE(11.0.9600.17041) and instead switched to chrome and chrome worked fine.
