The challenge
De Bock's primary challenge was that Odoo's standard sales and product management features were too rigid for their business model. They were unable to apply volume discounts based on the combined weight of multiple products in a category. The system also lacked a dynamic way to generate structured product variant codes based on attributes like color and packaging. Furthermore, they needed to display customer-specific product codes on documents, set default delivery routes per customer, and show the total order weight on quotes and delivery notes for logistical planning.

To solve these issues, dear digital developed a custom discount app that aggregates the weight of multiple order lines within a category to apply tiered discounts. A dynamic naming system was built to automatically generate product variant codes based on prefixes and attributes. The solution also enables the storage and display of customer-specific product codes and names on all sales documents. Furthermore, a feature was added to set default sales routes on both customers and products, and the total order weight is now automatically calculated and displayed on quotes and delivery notes.
The results
