I would like to delete all the unnecessary accounts in my chart of accounts (there are over 1200.....)

I have exported and deleted a few (haven't added or changed any names or codes, just deleted about 300 accounts). I then tried to import the file again (just to check it works, before i continue to delete the rest).

And these two errors came up:

The file contains blocking errors (see below)

You can not change the code of an account. at multiple rows

Like I said, I have not changed any names, or codes or anything. simply deleted obsolete  accounts.

These errors prevent me from importing the COA, what can I do?

Hi Katrin,

The best practice to avoid using unnecessary accounts is to deprecate the accounts. It is a boolean field inside the chart of accounts so you can export the field and mark it as TRUE for all the accounts and import it back.

Regardless of the error, this will not work. You can't delete records using export/import. The system will only update the lines that are imported and do nothing with the other lines you deleted.

But you could do a a workaround like adding an active-state or renaming the records you want to delete and then bulk delete them by name from the treeview.

Regards
