During the production process we might have to use a different product than the one defined in the bom (raw material no more in stock or not yet available, light customization...). How could we modify the product to consume in a manufacturing order before production? Apparently this was possible in v6.1, but I could not find it in v7.

I have earlier found similar thread to this. I have tried to find all others and point them there to give votes, so we might get help sooner. http://help.openerp.com/question/30319/how-to-change-the-quantity-of-products-to-consume-mrp-module/
The three other threads you are mentioning are about modifying output quantities only. But I need as well to be able to define the components and the by_products used or produced at the end of the manufacturing process.
About the quantities, it seems that the earlier post is the one of Kindiss!
