The function to disable copyright is available OotB since version 14 and not need to do be done by coding:
- Open the website editor,
- Select the page footer
- Disable copyright

You can achieve this by using the following XML code:

In this code snippet, the part related to the copyright information has been commented out. You can simply remove the comment tags (<!-- and -->) surrounding the copyright section to enable it in your website layout
