I’m reaching out because we’ve encountered an inconsistency in our 3-step manufacturing process in Odoo Online 18 that we need to address before going live.
Our Process:
- Step 1 – MO Confirmation:
We confirm a Manufacturing Order (MO) with an initial production quantity of 100 units. Odoo calculates the required components based on the BOM for 100 units. - Step 2 – Component Pick-Up:
We execute the pick-up for all components according to the BOM (for 100 units). After validating the pick-up, I manually check all the “Consumed” boxes in the MO. - Step 3 – Adjusting Production Quantity:
Before production starts, we change the production quantity from 100 to 80 units. Our objective is for the components to be consumed according to the original 100-unit ratio, even though we are producing only 80 units. (here we treat scrap as over consumption for inventory valuation purposes.)
Issue Observed:
For BOMs with multiple components, even though the pick-up is executed consistently (and all “Consumed” boxes are checked after validation and before changing the production quantity), not all component consumptions behave the same. Some components correctly adhere to the 100-unit ratio, while others do not (can be 00 or 80).
Could you please advise on the following?
- Is this behavior expected in Odoo Online 18 for BOMs with multiple components in a 3-step manufacturing process?
- Are there any known configuration issues or patches that address this inconsistency?
- What best practices or adjustments would you recommend to ensure that the component consumption ratios remain consistent when reducing the production quantity?
I appreciate your assistance and look forward to your insights.
