I'm wondering how to note a restaurant patron's special request for a dish. In the restaurant that I've worked at we would use modifiers named "extra", "no", "add", "no/substitute", "lite" and "on-the-side"

For example a patron orders a "Deluxe Hamburger". This order automatically comes with cheddar cheese, sliced onions, pickles, mayonnaise, tomatoes, lettuce and bacon. The patron specifies that they would like Swiss cheese instead of cheddar, pickles on-the-side, extra mayonnaise and to go lite on the onions.

The ticket that would go back to the kitchen might look like:

-Deluxe Hamburger-

  • NO cheddar / SUBSTITUTE Swiss

  • pickle ON-THE-SIDE

  • EXTRA mayo

  • LITE onions

This might be a bit of an exaggerated example, but it is a good exercise in trying to communicate what I'm looking to do.

Secondarily, when making these special requests, when I select, for example, "No/Substitute" that I be presented with the items related only to the dish. The current POS I work with lists all the ingredients from all the dishes, which makes for a lot of clutter and loss of speed. I hope this makes sense, please ask clarifying questions if needed.

Is this possible with OpenERP?

as a side: I wonder to myself if each order from a patron could be like a BoM for manufacturing...... but this might be insane.

I do apologize Andy, I thought there was this option too. My mistake.

I can tell you how I've temporarily resolved the same problem: I created some category with the items I need for add, subtract and put standard notes. I edited the pos Report_receipt and now is suit my needs (I used the client field to identify the tables), then I've added the note for any dish before send the KOT. I'm still having problems editing it after the order was closed, for example when a customer ask to add/remove something, but I'm working on it. I know  it's not the perfect solution but it works.

Have a look of a sample:

Did you manage to find a solution Andy?  I am looking at a functioning Restaurant POS at the moment too, but can't commit to Odoo just yet v8 still doesn't seem to have it working properly.

Federico, that video shows Loyalty and Table management, not what I was talking about.

Joe, No I haven't found what I'm after, but I haven't looked since last year either.  If you find the something, lemme know.
