I am unable to edit/change an existing currency symbol. Also, when trying to create a new currency, I get the error that Symbol value is invalid. Yet, there is no Symbol field!!
How to fix this??

I found a work around to load a currency with all correct details.
In Settings/Accounting you need to activate Multicurrency, then you open Activate Other Currencies.
There you go to Favorites and select import Currencies. You must prepare a csv file with a currency you want to import. CSV file fields are self explanatory:
Currency, Currency Unit, Currency Subunit, Symbol, Symbol Position, Active
I may have to tweak around with that file in order to find correct values for your currency.
I imported my currency and it worked just fine.
there is no way to set the symbol as the only fields available are
- currency
- rate
- unit
- cents
