We set up the 3 step receiving in Odoo for custom machined material (Input-Quality-Warehouse) and also created a 1 step receiving route for off-the-shelf material to receive it straight to warehouse stock (2 step but second step is automatic).

The routes were applied to the product category level.

When we create a purchase order manually from scratch, everything works fine. The off-the-shelf material receiving goes straight to wh/stock. The custom material goes through the 3 step receiving process as intended.

However, when we go through the replenishment process, the receipts for all material (including off the shelf stuff) goes through the 3 step process.

How do we fix this?

Has replenishment for these products been automated in the past already?

Are there more than 1 receipt operations configured? On the 3 step receipt the default destination is WH/Input location which then triggers the push rule to WH/Quality location. (Internal transfer operation)

So it is not clear how the manual POs are placed with receipt operation having destination as wh/stock.

Also, do replenishments create a single PO for both off the shelf as well as custom materials? There is always possibility to change the destination location on the receipt operation

My reference was to ask if you have more than 1 receipt type operation configured? - Inventory > Configuration > Operation Type.

This is selectable on the 'deliver to' dropdown on the RFQ.

If you create an additional receipt operation for 1 step receipt and select on the RFQ the route works even when the the PO is triggered with replenishment.

In the current configuration, I believe the 'Pull and Push' creates the internal transfer to Quality location. When PO is directly created, only the Push to Input is in play and then the 2nd automatic operation is triggered based on product category.

In the later versions, multi step routes are configured as push only rules with each move having its dedicated operation rather than the generic Internal transfer operation in V16. This gives additional flexibility.

No. We upgraded from V13 to V16 about a year or two ago. Before that, in V13, I would verbally tell my qc associate that an order came in, he would do the inspection and verbally let me know what products passed the inspection and what failed. This is our first time experimenting with the 3 step receiving process.

Yes the other route to receive directly to wh/stock is a two step operation route. The first operation is the initial receipt into wh/input. The second operation in the route is set up as a push-pull stock transfer from input to wh/stock, and it's set up as automatic, therefore, in the receiving screen, it will show the final put-away location instead of wh/input. Then, in product category, we select the desired route, direct to stock for off-the-shelf items, and 3 step for machined/custom parts. The thing is, it only works when we create a PO from scratch manually. The route doesn't work through replenishment. When we create a PO through replenishment, every thing goes to the 3 step process.

An alternate configuration that would work is to modify the 'Buy' route. Change the destination route on the buy route to WH/Stock from WH/Input, this would trigger the buy with receipt to WH/Input and the subsequent individual push routes will be triggered. (either to Quality or to Stock depending on the product category)
