I'm setting up a POS PC for a shop and we bought a digital weighing scale (GRAM ZFOC 30 RS).
It
have RS232 usb interface and I can read the output through gtkterm and
change the transfer protocol on the scale but I can't make it work with
Odoo 10 POS. I don't know the values Odoo is listening and how to set
them in the weigh scale (or if it is listening the wheighing scale at
all).Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.

If someone arrives here finding a solution, I made it work by editing addons/hw_scale/controller/main.py and coding my own solution to communicate with the scale using pyserial.

You can see the main modification at custom_read_scale() and the scale definition above.
I just edited the code and restarted Odoo. I use Odoo 10. Set the weighing scale to pasive mode to make it work with my code. Maybe your scale have a diferent baudrate and it is located on the computer at a diferent place, mine is at /dev/ttyUSB0 (RS232 to USB interface).

Edit 2: you must download the dev version not the posbox image.
You can use this code as you wish. Changing the values on the scale definition should make it work with any digital scale that works in passive mode.

Did you modify addons/hw_scale/controller/main.py file on Posbox img? I've modify that file to adapt it to my scale but I can't write it on Posbox image.

I'm interested in configuring another weighing scale as well (Ohaus RV-4211) with protocol Sharp (Dialog 02/04). I'm a beginner in editing Odoo, could you please be a little more precise. Did you just edited the main.py and restarted Odoo? Did you have to recompile the module? or did you create a new module?
