Hello Odoo Community, 

I'm implementing a warehouse management system using Odoo.sh, and I'm looking for advice on optimizing our serial number scanning process. 

### Current Setup: - We have numerous serialized products in our inventory - Some serial numbers require us to open a box to acquire them, however, on the outside of the box, there is an associated Internal Reference number for each serial number.

• We can import each serial number along with it's unique internal reference number when receiving the shipment.
• When we need to hand out a full box of this product, our team currently has to open the box and scan each individual serial number, even though there is a unique reference number tied to each serial number printed by the MFG on the outside of the box.
• We would like to be able to scan a Internal Reference on the outside of the box and have Odoo return the serial number associated with it.

### What We're Trying to Accomplish: We want to enable our warehouse team to scan an Internal Reference number and have Odoo automatically retrieve the associated serial number. This would significantly improve our efficiency during picking operations and inventory counts. 

For example: 

1. A warehouse technician needs pull several full boxes of a serialized product. Each box has eight serialized devices inside.
2. Instead of having to look open multiple boxes and scan the serial number off of the device directly...
3. They could scan the Internal Reference barcode located on the outside of the box.
4. Odoo would then show them the specific serial number associated with that reference number.

### Questions:

1. It appears that this functionality is available in standard Odoo without customization. Is this so?
2. If so, which settings need to be configured to enable this? 
3. Does anyone have experience implementing this type of serial number lookup by Internal Reference? 
4. Are there any best practices for organizing Internal References when they're connected to serial numbers? 

We're trying to avoid custom development if this is already possible within Odoo's standard functionality. Any guidance, examples, or documentation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help.
