Hi, 


We are a wholesaler of electric goods, we do sell a lot of cable, and i was wondering if we could use multiple UoM to sell products on the website. 


For example, 


We buy cable on spools of 50 meters. we sell them as full spools, but also per meter. However, this is exactly the same product, we just cut the 50m spools in smaller segments to sell the cuts per meter. 


Is this possible in odoo to load in the product of 50m spool, and let the option of 1 meter cuts appear on the website? or do we need to load the 1 meter cuts as a separate product?

It's possible with some customization. One of my clients sell business card with box of 100,200 or 500 each with different unit price and product description and picture. They want to use variant for simplicity on the website.

Without customization, since Odoo treat UoM at the product template level, when customer order, the UoM will be unit and the inventory is messed up.

With customization, each variant can have its own UoM and the UoM is properly selected in the sale order and everything else will work.

For other clients, they don't want different variant and we can create different available UoM for the product. But then because it's the same products, you'll have to use PriceList to manage the differences in unit price.

hello,

It could be possible to do so, but it would bring a lot of trouble into your warehouse. The reason being that variants are in fact different products linked to one main product. So, the best you can do is to use packaging of 50 m in the master data, so that the system knows that when someone wants a factor of 50 m, you will deliver him a full package.
