Can i Unbuild Orders in mrp without BOM with create the components in the order, like in manufacturing order.
I use odoo 15

What if you purchase the item as a unit and want to unbuild it using a BOM? I tried to do this in Odoo 16 and it tells me I can't unbuild them because there is no associated Manufacturing Order. I need to disassemble the purchased items to parts and remanufacture the parts into another product.
Another thing I need to know is how does it handle components that have tracked serial numbers? I need to pull the serial number from the assembled unit and associate it with one of the components it adds to stock. That number will then be used on a newly manufactured item. I don't see how this is accomplished. Any thought would be appreciated.
As commented in the answer below, you can only unbuild what you have built.
If your operation is to dis-assemble a product, you need to create a BOM with one of the 'parts' as the product and other 'parts' as by-products.
The component on the BOM line would be the purchased 'item' which you are disassembling.
On completion of MO, you would be able to record the serial numbers and update inventory of the product and all by-products (in your case the parts).
Unbuild orders are used to undo a completed MO, so it would create the components (and qty) as originally consumed in that specific MO.
