Odoo 8 does not have an Enterprise version, so there is no official Odoo migration service available for upgrading the database directly to newer versions.

To move from Odoo 8 to a modern version like Odoo 19, you must first update or rewrite all custom addons so they work with the latest Odoo framework.

If you want to keep all historical data, you must follow the OpenUpgrade approach, upgrading the database step-by-step from 8 → 9 → 10 → … → 19

This multi-version upgrade is mandatory because no version jump is allowed; each version changes models, fields, workflows, and APIs.

If your database is not very large or the older data is not critical, you can skip step-by-step upgrades and simply install Odoo 19 fresh.

In that case, you manually import only the relevant data (customers, products, important transactions) into Odoo 19.

A fresh installation also allows you to fully use the new framework features without carrying over legacy technical debt from Odoo 8.

Whether you choose full migration or partial data import, always test in a staging server first to validate modules, data quality, and workflows before going live.
