I've noticed there are lots of different tags referring to the same concept, how should I proceed when asking a question?

don't use the tags field as a summary field for your question ("accounting problems in OpenERP" will create as many tags as there are words separated by a space => tags will become useless)
try to see which tags are used the most and use those rather than creating new tags
use as few tags as possible, less is more. Use tags that are relevant and likely to be used several times.
