Hi what is going on here at Odoo as we read again and again stuff about DMCA etc.?
We follow the vertical medical and now the Branch 11 is totally gone and all the licenses got changed back to GPL which have been before AGPL and actually the 11 Branch even LGPL.
And nearly all vertical medical forks are gone or shut down - only oca seems to work. I guess there were about 30 or even much more before.
https://github.com/OCA/vertical-medical/pull/221.
Does this now mean that there won't be a version available for Odoo 11? as Odoo is LGPL and as it looks like the author filed a DMCA shut down against OCA because of their move to LGPL. As Odoo 11 is LGPL there won't be a medical part in anymore - right? We still don't really understand why the license had been changed to LGPL years ago at all as AGPL was just great and with proper attribution which is a must, AGPL should also make no problem with GPLv3 codes.
For us as users and marketers, it looks like Odoo is getting very unreliable and customers have to fear that they even face probably legal actions due to DMCA activities and can't update anymore to higher versions because of LGPL code and the chance that this LGPL code will be probably used in EE installations or even in closed source with no access anymore. So the reaction of the code owners which published it in GPLv3 or AGPLv3 is more than understandable.
Unfortunately, since Fabien started with all that DMCA stuff here https://www.odoo.com/page/flectra-vs-odoo-flectrahq-enterprise it seems to be a new Odoo sport to shut down forks and hinder or slow down further developments! That was a very contra-productive move we think!
It actually will harm the customer base and we think about moving away from CE to one of the AGPL forks which have been already released for version 11, as Odoo CE offers less and less functionality and we can't recommend EE either since version 9. The discussion here https://gitter.im/flectrahq-erp/Lobby seems to be very productive and very different from what we had before here at Odoo Community or Odoo dot com. The people and developers at the lobby really try to bring back the power to a community version of Odoo which it still had in Version 8 under AGPL. Similar to what Yuri Tello already started with his fork, but theirs is even working with Postgres 10 already and it is Python 3 and includes an upgrade path and more. They are really focussing on the community edition's usability for endusers instead of investing or fostering EE features for a very limited group of wealthy clients. This is for sure the correct way and since their 1.0 Snowcap on 25th January the feedback looks great. But I guess they still have to do some work to get all the customers migrating to their Odoo CE Fork.
But anyway what is happening now with vertical medical in Version 11 and are there also other parts of the Odoo or OCA Universe to be shut down due to DMCA claims? Perhaps someone can clarify that a bit more with focus on OCA and Odoo itself. What is the next Odoo Community shock?

Concerning flectra: It is Odoo's right to claim copyright infringements of almost all of the enterprise code, and the courts will decide. Until then everybody is entitled to his own opinion and alternative facts, but not in a help forum.
