I am looking to understand how I can find out the company joining date for an employee with multiple contracts. 

Situation: the employee joined in January 2017 with contract A until December 2019, then he got a different job inside the company with a new contract B until today.

The hiring date for the employee is shown from the current contract B start, what I need is the overall period of the employee being employed in the company until today taking into consideration start date of contract A which is not valid anymore. 

This is a very normal requirement in any company and I can't seem to figure it out. 
Any help is highly appreciated.

The field "In Contract Since" would always be the start date date of the 1st contract

Unfortunately that is not the situation. Also the contract in the above screenshot says expired and the new one says New. For us it is that we can't have expired and running contracts at the same time (there is an error saying you can only have one active contract at a time)

Believe the error you mention occurs if there are overlapping dates between the contracts. I have now changed the status of the contract in my example to expired and running.

I got the same error too, so changed the end date of 1st contract.

In your case what is the status of the earlier contracts? Are they deleted? As even if you archive it, the 'In Contract Since' still retains the start date of the 1st contract
