When a sales order is created, before it gets confirmed, can you have a manager approve profitability?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Boekhouding
- Voorraad
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

Please see this module that helps to implement multi-level dynamic approval workflow for sale orders:
https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/15.0/xf_sale_flex_approval/
The module is available also for versions 13 and 14. If you need for older version, please contact me.
There are some third-party apps that might help (I haven't used them, so this is not a recommendation):
https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/13.0/de_order_approval/
https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/13.0/sale_order_checklist/
There is an option in Sales Settings to display the margin on a sales order:
this module may help you
https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/13.0/oi_workflow/
you can create multiple levels of approval with defined condition for each level

Hi. Don't understand the logic though. Is there a reason this is not a desirable function? Approval by another before a quotation turns into sales order? Once a Sales Order is approved, the Purchase Order can be generated. Isn't there concern that profit is negative? And yet, Inventory is ordered?
I agree that it would be good to have. I can't tell you whether Odoo have any plan to add functionality in this area.
But there are ways to achieve this in Odoo (add-ons, Automated Actions, customization) and none of them should be too difficult.
Also, even if there was a margin check and approval procedure it is possible that the Purchase Price in Odoo could be wrong so that an apparently profitable order could actually turn out be unprofitable. So maybe you need another check to ensure that the order is still profitable before the PO is confirmed (though again that could be done fairly easily).
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, there should be approval in the Sales Order process, as well as in the Purchase Order process. e.g., if different from cost used in Sales Order, or up to a certain percentage higher, requires approval. If actual cost for purchase went down, I could care less :D
