Create new Account Types in Odoo 18.2

Question

I am a registered not for profit and am trying to set up my financial reporting on Odoo. For charities we are required to report based on the ACNC charity charter of accounts which includes additional Account Types of: Grants, Fundraising – Gifts and Trading/Operating Activities.

I am looking for help and advice on how to create additional account types. Previous forums were for different versions which have instructions that do not work on current version.

*Use Account Tags or Groups* *If you need custom behavior or categorization*, do the following:

*Go to*: Accounting > Configuration > Chart of Accounts

Open an account, and assign:

A *custom Tag* (for reporting)

A *custom Group* (for hierarchical chart)

This lets you categorize accounts beyond the default Account Types without breaking core logic.
