s a company, you can treat assets however you like, but the sale of an asset is not considered revenue — it is classified as non-operating income. Also, you cannot “sell part of a table,” only a complete asset.
To handle this in Odoo, you should take three steps:
- Create a sales order with a product of type Service (e.g., called “Asset”), and use the asset’s name as the label. Important: this is not the actual asset record, just a service line to start the process.
- Issue an invoice to the customer once payment is received. The revenue account on this invoice should be Gain/Loss on disposal of fixed assets, not the normal revenue account.
- Close the Asset record in Odoo, since it no longer exists.

Please explain how that product combination (your 'asset' I guess?) has been set up in Odoo in the first place. Combo, BoM, ...?
The assets (chairs/table/etc.) are combined in one asset in Odoo. That is why it is a problem as a part of it is sold and you can only sell the whole asset and not a part of it.
This does not explain how you've set up the product in Odoo. The term 'asset' could mean anything but is not used in Odoo when it comes to saleable items.
