Can we define an export in advance? I mean is it possible to create a button that will automatically export the pre-defined fields and push them to an Excel or .csv file?

A new option to "Print" (Export) the currently selected records. Since this works with list view - you can create, save and apply any custom filter you want.

It is great. We use it for all our clients. It is actually based on a great module from 6.1 at http://v6apps.openerp.com/addon/8885 called web_export_view
This addon might be helpfull for you ea_import. There you can define SQL query for exporting to .csv file. Besides, in query you can use active_ids of selected records to use in exporting,
