Odoo v16 has come out with the ability to create dependencies in the BOM which translate to dependencies being created between the workorder. Now this is specially helpful when seeking to schedule MOs/Jobs in your workorder schedule.
The dependencies create links in the Gantt chart that connect work orders to one another. This allows easy drag and drop functionality, since you can click the arrows above a dependency to reschedule the remaining workorders.
Now in a practical environment when you have Sub-BOMs, practically subassemblies in a BOM, they theoretically should have a dependency to the Parent BOM. In other words, the parent BOM can only be made once all Sub-assemblies or child MOs are completed.
At the moment, the dependency in a BOM is only limited to the operations in the particular BOM. Looks like there is a filter that looks specifically for operations present in a particular BOM.
I recently discovered that links various manufacturing orders can be made by simply dragging the arrow (In workorder planning view) to a different workorder and a dependency is created between two workorders from different MOs. So there is a workaround and this gives the benefits of v16 re-planning upgrades to advanced BOMs.
Now is there a way to set the operations view such that it's able to view operations from all the BOMs belonging to the parent BOM? If this is achieved the scheduling in Odoo can vastly be improved.
