Simplifying Payments: 777 Processing’s Shift to Odoo

When 777 Processing, a credit card and debit transaction provider based in Tracy, California, needed to level up their operations, they turned to Odoo. What started as a search for flexible, scalable business software turned into a transformative move that centralized inventory, lead tracking, and customer service in one place, making daily processes faster, more efficient, and more transparent.

Founded in 2005, 777 Processing is a credit card processing company that serves a wide variety of merchants (from gas stations and car dealerships to veterinary clinics and liquor stores). What sets them apart is their ability to offer tailored services, including point-of-sale systems, large and small ATMs, and hardware for transaction processing.

The company’s growth has largely been organic, rooted in relationships within the Indian-American business community and expanded by word of mouth. With a team of seven employees, they’ve built strong ties with local merchants while maintaining a hands-on approach to support and service.

"We’re not your typical credit card processor: we do things differently, and Odoo was the right fit because it adapts to our unique workflow."

Disconnected Tools, Missed Calls, and Lost Leads

Before adopting Odoo, 777 Processing ran entirely on Excel spreadsheets and Word documents. There was no real-time tracking of physical inventory, no centralized system for managing merchant communication, and no ability to track phone calls or customer service tickets.

When Nate Fajardo joined in 2021, one of his first tasks was to bring order to the chaos. “There was no software infrastructure set up,” he recalls. “Everything was saved on Excel or Word, and nothing was tracked consistently, not even inventory since the company was founded.”

"We used to miss merchant follow-ups all the time. They’d call and no one would get back to them, not because we didn’t care, but because there was no tracking system in place."

From Zero Infrastructure to Integrated Powerhouse

While exploring solutions online, 777 Processing came across Odoo and quickly realized it was different from other platforms. Its modular design and scalability fit their business model perfectly, particularly because their workflows didn’t follow traditional patterns.

“The flexibility and the range of apps were a big factor,” Nate says. “Odoo isn’t rigid. It allowed us to build processes that match our unique operations, and it was also cost-effective.” Implemented in December 2022, Odoo quickly became the central nervous system of 777 Processing’s operations.

Inventory Control That Works: The Inventory app enabled the company to finally track physical assets. They can now assign hardware to merchants, manage check-outs, and sort inventory easily. While Nate sees room for improvement in intuitiveness, he values the real-time visibility the system provides.

Customized Lead and Merchant Management: Using the CRM app, 777 Processing tracks leads and merchant accounts with greater accuracy. The team benefits from Odoo’s updates too, specifically a new feature in the most recent version that allows them to create installations (which they refer to as rentals) directly from the CRM, instead of creating helpdesk tickets.

At-a-Glance Merchant Insights: The Contacts app shows a consolidated view of each merchant, including their opportunities, sales, tasks, tickets, and purchases, streamlining internal coordination and client follow-up.

Smarter Customer Support: The Helpdesk app revolutionized how the company handles merchant concerns. Tickets can now be created, filtered by status or assignee, and monitored through resolution. Notifications and assignments ensure issues don’t fall through the cracks.

Integration That Speeds Up Workflows: The seamless communication between Odoo’s apps boosts efficiency across the board. Whether it’s Inventory tied to a merchant or a lead linked to a sales order, everything is interconnected, helping the team stay on top of all business processes.

"We’ve gone from missing calls and misplacing records to having total visibility and accountability across inventory, leads, and tickets. Odoo makes it all possible."

Looking Ahead: More Growth, More Optimization

With a strong operational foundation now in place, 777 Processing is looking to expand their use of Odoo and explore features they haven’t fully tapped yet. There’s excitement around leveraging more automation and potentially expanding into eCommerce or additional service lines. They also see untapped potential within Odoo’s apps they’ve yet to master. "We don’t use every feature yet," Nate says, "but there's still so much we're excited to explore."

Whether you’re a small team starting from scratch or a scaling company ready to streamline complex processes, Odoo offers the flexibility and power to meet your business where it is, and grow with it. If you're in merchant services or any other sector with unique workflows, Odoo might be the game-changer you’ve been searching for.
