Hi everyone,

I’m a business school student working on an Odoo project, and I’m facing an issue with Vendor Bills.

When I create a Vendor Bill from a Purchase Order, the product lines do appear, but the quantities are always set to 0.

I expected the bill to automatically take the quantities received or ordered, but it stays empty unless I enter the quantities manually.

Is there a configuration I’m missing?

Should the bill normally pull quantities from the PO or from the receipt, and how can I make this automatic?

Hi Ahmed,

your current behavior is definitely not correct - your assumption that Odoo actually transfers the quantity would be the standard way. 

Which Odoo version you are using at the moment?

When creating vendor bills from purchase orders in Odoo, the quantities might default to zero due to a few reasons. The "Control Policy" on the purchase order determines whether the bill should be based on quantities ordered or received. Ensure this is set correctly under the "Other Info" tab. If set to "Received quantities," a validated receipt is necessary for Odoo to know what was actually received.


Also, check the invoicing control settings in Accounting > Configuration > Settings to ensure they align with your desired workflow. Product configurations, particularly the "Tracking" field under the "Inventory" tab, can also affect this behaviour. Finally, ensure correct mappings between the purchase order, receipt, and vendor bill, checking for any custom fields that might interfere. By setting the correct "Control Policy," creating and validating receipts, and verifying relevant configurations, you should resolve the issue and have quantities automatically populated on your vendor bills.
