Tablet view does not work in our environment - grinders/welders/sparks/hammers, and a huge number of components per product make tablets totally impractical. 

We are looking for a way for a supervisor to update the quantities consumed with a single click. Each product we manufacture have a few hundred individual components and clicking through tablet view is unworkable. Likewise, updating the quantities using the "Show Details" form on the MO is also unworkable too. 

Ideally, we are looking for the same functionality as found on stock moves. A button which will "set done quantities" on a MO. 

Ive had a look through all the available apps but have not been able to find one. Does anyone know if an app with this functionality already exists?

I guess you have traceability on components?

You get this confirmation of all components, when you have traceability on components (lot numbers or serial number).  In order to have correct traceability you need to confirm each lot number / serial number you have used.   The best and most efficient way to do that, is to have barcode labels on all components, and confirm with barcode reader.

From what you describe, you do not care about correct traceability. You just want confirm what have been reserved.  If you do not care about correct traceability, do not use it on the components. 

I can think of two options. But I have not tested:  

In components in the BOM there is a field "Manual Consumption". This field is automatic set to True if component have Lot or Serial number active and is Read Only. (If no traceability it can be set manually).  It should be possible to override with a server action or automatic action.

If this field is set, a filed in the components, Manual consumption, is set to True and a related step is created in the work order. It should be possible to override this also with a server Action or a automatic action.

A third option should be to create a server action on the manufacturing order, that fill in the lot number and qty reserved on the components lines.

To create these action , you would need som knowledge about phyton coding.  

But: You do loose the correct tracing of components.

Sounds exactly what we are looking for except filling in the done quantities instead of lots/serial numbers - which we don't care about. How can we find out more about how to do this?

NOTES:
The first paragraph would be more labour intensive using barcodes.
We are not using lots or serial numbers at all. Traceability is not a concern.

Further: I've been looking at that "Manual Consumption" which seems rather redundant. I suppose it will override the "flexible consumption" option on the BoM but I do struggle to see the purpose of it.
I expect that those who track every detail would be more likely to turn off flexible consumption altogether.

I believe a better approach is to have automatic consumption - if there were such a thing - turned on and then use this "Manual Consumption" to override where required such as in the case of individual S/N or lots. I feel the current arrangement is a little backward.

If you do not use lotnr / serial number, you should not need to confirm any consumption at all. Tested in V16.0 EE.
Only: You can flag Manual consumption in the BOM on components, or you change qty on components directly in the manufacturing order.

Thank you but, as I stated in the OP, tablet view is unworkable when you have to click through hundreds of components. You vid uses tablet view. We need to be able to set the done quantities directly from the MO.

As shown in my video, there is not any "click through components" in the tablet view. Perhaps you use another version?
