Since you are using the manufacturing module, try out the module: MO and BoM variance whose author is intelliVersal integrated solutions. This module generates a variance analysis report showing the quantity and cost differences between BoM and actual MO.

Are they really the same product? What is the Use Case where a product would be manufactured after it was manufactured?
The product is chemical and this chemical if not meet the specified quality will be re-use again in the manufacturing of the same product.
I can't imagine you store the "good" and "bad" chemicals in the same place and it is not possible to differentiate them.
If you can, then they are not the same product.
