I am working with a company that has two branches: a Retail branch and a Wholesale branch. The company also has a central hub. Each branch and the central hub have their own dedicated warehouses.

I want to be able to:

  • Create a warehouse under each branch (Retail and Wholesale).
  • Perform 'inter-site' stock transfers from the central hub warehouse to both the Wholesale and Retail branch warehouses.
  • Perform 'inter-site' stock transfers between the Wholesale branch warehouse and the Retail branch warehouse.

How can this be configured in Odoo to achieve direct stock transfers between these warehouses, bypassing the creation of inter-company sales/purchase orders? What are the best practices or recommended approaches?

Here’s  you can follow this:
1.  Enable Multi-Branch Feature(Settings → Users & Companies → Branches).

  • Add 2 branches(Retail Branch,Wholesale Branch)

2. Inventory -> settings -> Enable Multi-Warehouse and Multi-Location Features(Automatically Creates Locations & Operations)

  • Inventory → Configuration → Locations
  • Inventory → Configuration → Operation Type

3.Create warehouses for each branch and main company

  • Navigate to Inventory → Configuration → Warehouses.
  • Configure Resupply From under Warehouse configuration tab(Routes will be created automatically to resupply the current warehouse from the warehouse ticked)

4. To transfer stock between warehouses:

  • Go to Inventory → Operations → Transfers
  • Click Create.
  • Select Operation Type 
  • Set Source Location and Destination Location 
  • Add Products and Quantities.
  • Confirm and Validate the Transfer.

5. To check product stock levels in different warehouses 

  •  Inventory → Reporting → Stock
  • Select warehouse and search product

Thank you for your response. However, I need to clarify that the Retail and Wholesale branches are configured as child companies under the main company, which is the desired setup.

My specific issue is that the warehouses are not being tied to the respective branches (child companies) as expected. Instead, they are being created under the main company. I am trying to understand why this is happening and how I can ensure that each warehouse is associated/ linked with its corresponding branch.
