In Odoo15, when you press any field on a form, EDIT mode is started automatically. Is there any way how to stop this new feature and go back to the trusted shaking edit button?

If it ain't broke why fix it? Odoo needs to take into account that Database in general need to be EDIT RESTRICTED rather than edit easy. New unnecessary features like this makes our work, as trainers, unnecessary harder when training new users who are not tech-savvy.

you are absolutely right, well meant is the opposite of well done.
Instead of Odoo finally taking care of the real issues and eliminating eternal construction sites or even obvious bugs, they deal with such nonsense.

When we released this feature internally last year (it was released as part of v14.2) there were many Odoo employees who had the same reaction - hated it in fact.

Then, as time went on, there were less complaints. The last feedback I see recorded internally about this feature is nearly a year ago.

We did adjust the feature so that if you copy information from a form (also when you double click to select text), edit mode is not triggered and if you click anywhere on the form that isn't a field or field label, edit mode is not triggered.

Also, saving is automatic so there is no need to click the SAVE button either. You can simply click away to another Menu or record without being slowed down. In other words, even if you click by accident you are not required to do any additional work and have the benefit of being able to edit and don't even need to save.

For people who have not used Odoo before, I personally have not heard any negative feedback.

How long have you been trialing the new feature? Perhaps you will also get used to it in time?

Note: I didn't like it at first either, but I love it now.

Odoo internal employees are computer literate and are there to edit and use everything as per design, they should not be the gauge that an erp should be tested with. If Odoo is being designed for just Odoo employees this is very alarming. Our situation is that our clients have veteran managers, who by nature have access rights that allows them to edit. On the other hand some managers are like a reeking ball and with very limited computer skills.

We as Odoo Partners, are only asking Odoo to give us a break and allow us to catch our breath with all these completely new features (I still say some are unnecessary). With every change we, as partners, are having to change manuals, training procedures not to forget appearing as if we do not know our stuff in front of clients.

Now that we have used Odoo 15 for some time, it might be a good idea to send out a survey asking us about specific features and see how it scores.

Your conclusion is incorrect. Odoo employees are only used to test Odoo earlier than most Customers.

Please also share your feedback with your AM and understand that there are no EDIT buttons in Google or Microsoft products our users are most commonly using.

Your Partner agreement also provides you with training for upgrades so please check you have access to it.

In Indonesia, this is still a shock, even for those who already used Odoo before, and no, none of them liked or loved this new thing, the auto save is so annoying, even now we needed a little custom so that required fields are recognizable at new
