I want to integrate a fingerprint machine with the Odoo database for real-time check-in and check-out synchronization. For this integration, do I need to use the Odoo.sh hosting platform, or can it be achieved with the standard Odoo Online (SaaS) hosting? Also, please let me know when exactly Odoo.sh hosting is required.

You cannot integrate a fingerprint device with Odoo Online (SaaS).
-Odoo Online does not allow installing custom modules.
- It runs on a restricted cloud infrastructure.
- No way to interact with local networks or devices (like fingerprint machines).
- Cannot run background services, daemons, or APIs.
You can integrate fingerprint machines with Odoo.sh or On-Premise Odoo.
You can use the following free module to integrate Odoo with biometric devices.
