I am new to odoo and i just read the word odoo instance what it means and where we use it ?

Hi,
Odoo can be installed in a local machine or in a server, so when we install and set up the odoo, we will call this setup as an odoo instance, either in local machine or in a server. Suppose if you run odoo in a port 8069, this is an instance and if you installed/set up another odoo(conf file and service file) in another port, this is also another instance.
