We are planning to depoy an Odoo eCommerce store with 4 to 5 thousands products. The store is supposed to by multilingual. While I understand that Odoo allows user interface and menues in multiple languages, how can I also have all products names, description and parameters in multiple languages.

Yes, all these fields are translatable by default, as most of the data content. Please look for the small globe icon in the upper right position of translatable fields (in editing mode). Click on it and enter your translation values.
