I'd like to keep tabs on where my employees are so I can give updates to Customers who are expecting them later in the day - to let them know if their scheduled time is still on track.

We have no plans to incorporate this feature.
Each task shows if a worker has "clocked in" to start the Job (they have clicked START on the job), as well as a status to indicate the job is complete (DONE) so you can assess if the worker is on time, behind or ahead using this information.
Users can also TAG Jobs (new at v14) to indicate they are needing more time, have arrived late, were unable to connect with the Customer, etc.
Several Odoo Partners have extended Field Services and can help if you want this integration built.
