Best way to develop and edit Odoo code when hosted on a cloud ubuntu server?

Hello everyone,

I am new odoo development and I have just installed odoo 16 on free EC2 AWS ubuntu server version 22.4, and I can access the database online. The thing is I have been trying to access and edit the source code to start making custom changes. I have tried to push the source code to github repository and make changes on GitHub and then pull back to my server but it did not work (I could not push the code due to some error which I did not understand) and I have tried to install a desktop interface on AWS cloud machine so I can change the code locally but that did not work most probably because of the limited storage of the free AWS server. So any advise on where to start would be greatly appreciated.

The one you already tried with git is the best.
that of the desktop on the machine, nor do you value it, you are taking resources away from the server.
The other thing you can try is with an IDE that connects but will still install some things that are not worth having on your server.
In other words, if you work with git only with the console you should have no problem dedicating all your efforts to that.
