CRM Lead & Opportunity Basics
In this course, you'll learn how to work with Leads using Odoo.
A lead stage is an additional stage before becoming an opportunity. It’s a feature that lets you distinguish qualified opportunities —like people who contact your company directly and ask for a quote— from those who might potentially be interested in your business, such as people who visit your website, follow you on social media, or subscribe to your newsletter.
Once their interest grows enough, they are assigned to the appropriate teams and salespersons, who convert them into opportunities and send them into the sales pipeline.

1.
Why can’t a lead’s probability be manually adjusted to 100%?
Odoo only offers a choice of preconfigured probabilities: 10%, 50%, and 80%.
A lead with 100% probability is considered “won” and is automatically closed.
Lead probabilities can only be manually adjusted up to 75%. Beyond that, more information must be added to the lead for the AI to calculate the probability.
By default, Odoo requires manager approval to set a lead’s probability above 50%.
2.
How does Odoo AI determine a lead’s probability percentage?
We don’t know. The AI is a black box and it’s unclear how it calculates the percentage, but it’s pretty good at it.
Odoo AI uses publicly available CRM datasets and a proprietary algorithm for its calculations.
Odoo AI uses your company’s record of won and lost opportunities to identify data that can help predict a lead’s likelihood of converting into a sale.
Odoo AI analyzes data across all businesses that use Odoo to predict a “typical” win/loss percentage for leads.
3.
What does the date in the Expected Closing field represent?
A manually entered date for when you expect the opportunity to be won.
A manually entered date beyond which the opportunity will be considered lost.
An automatically determined date generated by the Accounting app for when you can expect the opportunity’s revenue to hit your business’s account.
An automatically determined date calculated by Odoo AI for when the opportunity will likely be won.
