I am trying to remove powered by odoo in my website footer. Does anybody know how I can go about this is version 17.

I have Odoo Online and I achieved this by editing the footer template on the web editor, and just turn off the copyright button. I have the Spanish Odoo version "Derechos de Autor" option was disabled, pretty straightforward.

Please do the following steps:
- Login as Admin and Activate Developer mode from settings
- Go to Settings->Technical->User Interface->Views
- Open the view Brand Promotion Message
- Deactivate this view or comment or remove the content as below (PFA)

This option does not work on odoo online.
I get a 500 error after turning off the brand promotion message
Try unactive that brand promotion ir.ui.view
i think you get error because some view already inherited that view, if we comment the value then we will get error

You can change the footer template by using the web editor. Simply click the 'Edit' button located at the top right corner of the website
