Future activities don't show in the menu in odoo 16

Hello there,

I've discovered that scheduled dated in the future aren't showing in the activity menu in the top right in my odoo 16 instance. It will say that I've completed all my activities, which factually isn't wrong and that's why I wonder if this is intended.

I believe it wasn't like this in odoo 15.

Activities due today or in the past will show normally. And when it does it will also show future activities in the list.

If anyone has some knowledge on this it would be nice if you could share it.

Also if it shouldn't be like this, any guess on how to repair this?

It does seem to be the behavior in 16, future activities show up only if there is activities which are due in past or current day and that too in the same model. Example if you have activities due and in future in sales and only future activities in inventory, then only the activities for sales app are shown.

In V15, even future activities are shown

I've just updated to Version 16.0-20221226 and this solves the problem. Now it's the way it used to be.

Ahh I See ou use a demo database. This reminded me that you can use odoo for free with only one module online. I just tested the behavior in the online version and it's the same.

So now the question is: Is this intended?

I mean sure I'm done with all my activities but it would make a lot of sense in my mind to always show future activities to maybe work ahead or just know what to expect the next days.

Since it's not possible to test odoo 15 online I cannot check if this was the same behavior.

Indeed it does seem to be the behavior in 16, future activities show up only if there is activities which are due in past or current day and that too in the same model. Example if you have activities due and in future in sales and only future activities in inventory, then only the activities for sales app are shown.

This is consistent in the demo database as well, as you can see on the attached screenshot each displayed model has due activity. Models with only future aren't displayed.

In V15, all future activities were available, so am not sure if this is intended or a bug. While I do agree on the benefits of viewing future activities.

Hmm... Do you or anyone else know how to proceed with this with the community Version? Should I open an issue on Github?

And maybe vote for this thread so more people can see it.

Hi Luca,

Yes that is the functionality. System shows the Today's and Overdue Activities only. It will count the planned activities but not shows the count in the main activity icon.

Thanks for your response but that it doesn’t show the count of future activities is good and definitely how it’s soppiest to be. However if I click on the icon I would assume you should be able to see future activities.

Yes right Luca,

But as the flow and code shows, it is the functionality to show your current and missed Activities. If you want to include your future activities too, then you need some customisation and add the planned activities into the icon counter. V15 has the same functionality too.

We are facing the same problem with future activities not being shown. Has anyone found a solution to this? Thanks.

This list is only to remind you with the schedule you have missed, that is the main purpose of it, to not forget something you should have done.
it's not like a calendar for your all next activities.

you can find or custom what you are asking for in "add-ons"

In V15, the behavior isn't the same as V16. Have updated screenshots from 15 and 16
