Hello Community,

I’m currently using Odoo Accounting with Avalara integration enabled for a company registered in the United States. Everything was working smoothly until few days.

We encountered an issue where, when creating a new contact, the Avalara-related fields under the Sales and Purchases tab no longer appear. This is disrupting our workflow since these fields are essential for tax configuration.

Previously, when the country was set to United States or Canada, these fields would automatically appear.


Currently, when the country is set to United States or Canada, the fields related to AvaTax are no longer visible


Has anyone faced this issue before? Could you please assist with troubleshooting steps or guidance to restore the missing fields?

Thank you, Cybrosys Techno Solutions Pvt. Ltd., for your response. However, this issue occurs across all V18 databases. I have verified it in multiple Odoo databases on Odoo.sh and also checked on Runbot, where the same issue persists.

I have also noticed this issue as of a few days ago. No changes have been made to the database or contacts to cause them to be hidden. I had to manually remove the invisibility using studio to be able to see the fields. Hirav, were you able to get this fixed?

The Avalara (AvaTax) fields normally shown on the contact form can disappear when something breaks in the module configuration or the form view. The most common causes are a failed or partial upgrade of the Avalara modules, a corrupted or broken inherited view that injects the AvaTax fields, or changes in the company’s Avalara settings (such as missing credentials). Sometimes Studio customizations or country-specific conditions can also hide these fields.

To fix the issue, first verify that all Avalara modules are still installed. Then check the Avalara configuration under Accounting to ensure the company is still enabled and credentials are valid, because Odoo hides the fields if Avalara is disabled. Next, inspect the technical views to look for broken inheritance or archived views, since Avalara adds its fields through XML extensions. Also confirm that Studio has not overridden or hidden the fields. Finally, clear the interface cache and test with a new contact to rule out data-specific problems.

In most cases, restoring the missing fields requires either fixing the broken inherited view or re-enabling Avalara at the company level.
