As per my knowledge, Product manager could be a supplier (correct me if i am wrong). When i click on product manager select box, it is showing users. Why openerp considering users as a product manager, instead of suppliers?. Because I want to filter the products based on product manager.

Pretty sure the product manager is responsible for stock of product. You could add M2O or O2M or M2 M field for suppier to track.
Purpose of assigning product manager is that , he is responsible person for that particular task. And it can be used as a tag on products, in order to intentify.

Is there any problem, if i use that field as suggest by Andrew. i.e
user receive alerts based on stock. It is a "tag" for who is responsible for that product.
